West Coast Florida Gulf passes are in jeopardy and will become dangerous to navigation if politicians play politics without regard to facts. Recent actions by governmental entities, to request dredging Longboat Key Pass using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (ACOE) original channel alignment, are irresponsible. This would waste limited federal dollars, create a danger to public safety and cause a navigational hazard.

Longboat helps bust boat theft ring

An international boat theft ring responsible for stealing millions of dollars in luxury boats from West Florida has been broken-up thanks to the assistance of Longboat Key and its Marine Patrol Division. A 10-count indictment was issued Sept. 22 for 12 defendants, and two days later, 10 were detained at the Federal Courthouse.
