Tigers — developers

Tigers — developers

Late on another hot and humid August morning I headed over the bridges to the big city, Sarasota, for the monthly meeting of the movers and shakers of the county, the Tiger Bay Club. This is a test of endurance. Inside the pleasantly cool restaurant, Michaels on East, I heard what I took as a great remark, “You really have to like chicken to put on a jacket on a day like today.” Good line, eh?

Tigers still

Tigers still

It was a hot day in early June as I traveled to our big city, Sarasota, for the Tiger Bay luncheon. As is my want I try to attend these almost-monthly affairs to keep up on what is going on in the larger venue, to see who else is about and frankly to support our colleague and friend, Dr. Hal Lenobel. Tiger Bay has long been Hal’s baby

Tigers all

The agenda for that Thursday was the appearance of Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight and City of Sarasota Chief of Police Mikel Hollaway. These two police professionals cover the city and larger county. They answered questions from the day’s moderator and from the floor

Politics, big time

Politics, big time

The Tiger Bay Club Meeting for this almost-autumn Thursday took on a big time political feel. The governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, was the guest speaker. Note my enthusiasm for the top leaders of our state coming to visit with us in Sarasota.

Matter of law

Matter of law

I attended yet another Tiger Bay meeting in early August. The food wasn’t up to par, but the event was. We were treated to presentations and some debate by two of this year’s candidates for governor, Bill McCollum and Bud Chiles. It is great to see that the mainstream candidates realize the necessity of talking to Sarasota.
