The Village at the north end of the key should see the most recent wastewater pipe break replaced within two to three weeks, according to Town Engineer Anne Ross. The entrance to the Village is currently under construction while the metal wastewater pipe that corroded is being replaced

Recent sewer line breaks beneath Gulf of Mexico Drive give, or should give, our town pause. Sewers and the pipes that carry sewage were installed in the early ’70s, approaching their 40th year in service. Line breaks are always a nuisance to all. Town officials and Longboat Key Garden Club members celebrated Arbor Day Friday, Jan. 14 at Longboat’s Overlook Park. A tradition that spans years, the LBK Garden Club commemorated Arbor Day by planting a gumbo limbo tree with the help of the town of Longboat Key Public Works Department. The town of Longboat Key has almost completed construction of the Potable Water Pipeline Upsizing Project. The pipeline project consists of the installation of about 18,000 lineal feet of a 12-inch to 16-inch diameter potable water main along the east side of Gulf of Mexico Drive.
