The town of Longboat Key has officially ‘appealed the appeal’ of the Islandside development order in an effort to get the project back on track after it was derailed last December in circuit court.
Town amends Armstrong suit
Despite the recent ruling by Circuit Court Judge Charles Roberts to deny the town of Longboat Key entry into resident James Armstrong’s home, the town has continued its lawsuit against Armstrong by filing an amended complaint. The town’s amended complaint puts more potential outcomes in the hands of the judge; instead of requesting that Armstrong be made to leave his home so the town can check for unpermitted construction work, the town is asking for a solution that allows the town to determine if the home is habitable and safe.
Split decision
The U.S. Supreme Court almost never renders a unanimous decision. In many, too many for me, the decision is split almost down the middle, 4-5.
