I had the chance to attend what I think was a memorable occasion in New York last Saturday night. Yes, it was cold on that November evening. The occasion was the meeting of Notre Dame and Army in a renewal of their storied rivalry. These two teams, of which real sports journalists have written legends over the years, met again this year in Gotham.

Next year’s budget bloats to pay down pensions

In an effort to balance the 2010-2011 budget and repay the estimated $25 million in unfunded pension liability, the Town Commission voted 6-1 at its Monday, Sept. 13 regular meeting to increase the millage rate from 1.5 mils to 1.8872 mils. One mil is the equivalent of $1 for every $1,000 of a property’s assessed valuation.
