We have finite/limited land; only about four square miles. Added construction, added people, all must use the same and limited four square miles. Even in the course of events if construction does “go up” (yes, meant literally, and figuratively) we are in a “closed-in-space.”

The IPOC/Loeb Realty Partners decision gives the town the opportunity to retake control of their own destiny. The proposal by Loeb for a $400 million extravaganza of condos, hotels and a conference center was too much for a group of untrained community volunteers to assimilate so they just said ‘yes’ without considering the full extent of their folly.

You should know that your developer-friendly town government is rapidly trying to install tall cell towers up and down Longboat Key. The Planning and Zoning Board is discussing opening up all town property for tall cell towers in direct repudiation of cell tower codes put into place less than three years ago
