HOOAH, RAY!

HOOAH, RAY!

One of my colleagues at this newspaper thinks there may never be another election here on Longboat Key. He might be correct, at least in the short run. We’ll see. As somebody once said, “Wait ‘til next year.”

Election Day 2012

Election Day 2012

The decision before the voters is clear. Between the incumbent Vice Mayor David Brenner and his opponent, Ray Rajewski, there is a glaring clear difference: the former for unfettered expansion versus the latter’s belief in carefully coordinated maturation.

So, really, who is David Brenner?

So, really, who is David Brenner?

A few weeks ago I wrote a piece for this newspaper, which headlined this question. As we approach the 2012 Town Election and more specifically early voting, it may be informative for you, the voters, to revisit that question.

A one-issue election

A one-issue election

What the commissioners want to do to my neighborhood upsets me, and it is personal. I don’t appreciate the commissioners deciding what is best for me, any more than I appreciate having the federal government telling me what to do, where I can go and which Wall Street gambling losses I must pay for.

The path ahead

The path ahead

It is up to the voters on March 20 to decide. The choice couldn’t be clearer. Did the people at PIC, Arvida and others who came along later have the right idea, or are Brenner and his colleagues correct in wanting to go a different route?

Looking behind the decision

Looking behind the decision

Citizen Gadfly

Citizen Gadfly

To keep Longboat Key a quality community requires the residents’ involvement. The town has been blessed with volunteers who have been hugely successful in their business life and who have offered their services gratis to help make the town what it is today.

A new beginning?

A new beginning?

The day after it was announced that there was to be a candidate to oppose current Vice Mayor Dave Brenner, I received the following message: “Ray Rajewski is a neighbor in the bayou and friend of mine. We served together for five years on our board. Ray has good creds, e.g., he got the Bay Isles Master Association to reduce the assessment rate after pointing out that it was higher than the ad valorem taxes imposed by LBK! If he wins against Brenner

One contested race for March election

One contested race for March election

The deadline has passed for qualifying to run for Town Commission in March 2012, and that means there will be one contested race out of four seats that are up for election. The contested race will be in District 3; the candidates are incumbent Vice Mayor David Brenner and Ray Rajewski. The seats that will […]
