This Town Commission, recently strengthened in its own opinion of self worth, looks like one which does not care to operate in a City Manager Form of Government.

Unfortunately, as soon the subject was introduced, Commissioner Lynn Larson erupted, screeching like a wounded banshee. Violating the rule against personal attacks (and with St. Denis conveniently not there to explain or defend himself), she loudly accused him of enriching himself at the expense of taxpayers and of being paid far more than he was worth.

In the wake of Town Attorney David Persson resigning from his post, Vice Mayor David Brenner communicated with Sarasota Attorney Cathy Giliberti regarding the opportunity with the Town of Longboat Key.

The current varsity got you to the toilet bowl, Longboat Key should be in the Super Bowl.

Bob White and his group, IPOC, should be congratulated although I think they should also sue the town to get their money back.

As the coming months unfold and the budget process evolves there may be one or more referendum questions to appear before the voters. This possibility of more debate is even better.

One would hope this Commission is strong enough to want a representative democracy and not a can of sardines neatly tucking in the same direction.

From my perspective this is a terrible piece of legislation and works against home rule. It takes away from the principal of home rule.
