“Republicans have always said that local issues should be handled by the government that is closest. But ironically, now Governor DeSantis wants to upstream all the power and tell us what is best for our community.
Closing wet markets and changing cultures will be expensive, but rich countries should pay the price. It will prove a cheap way to prevent future pandemics.
Perhaps Americans just feel a roll of the dice is what’s life’s all about, as when Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry in the 1971 Don Siegel film classic asks a bank robber, “Do I feel lucky?”
Do the math. 130,000 deaths divided by 2,773,000 cases equals a 4.6% death rate. 2,643,000 are still alive. Why aren’t we getting their stories of survival? Why aren’t we celebrating their success?
