A community center?

A community center?

One of the questions I am most asked is how I seem to keep up with what is happening on Longboat Key since I don’t live there anymore. It is a very good question, and when I hear from two of my readers that they have been told by friends that they are not comfortable with showing any favor to the contender for the Town Commission, Ray Rajewski, because they might suffer some consequences, I do feel that I do no longer know the town.

Updated Feb. 29, 2012. I wanted to thank Harold G. Piercy for his informative letter on the dogs on the beach issue. I was shocked, shocked to learn that we were even considering allowing animals onto our pristine shores. I would go even further than Harold, and remind all of us that there are actually birds, hundreds of them, which fly over our beaches and (ugh, I actually am shuddering) that they deposit bird guano when they are there. You can betcha that I walked a good deal out of my way to avoid those nasty defecators.
