As the North End continues to erode, the relief destined to come in the form of a small, interim sand renourishment is at least one week off. According to Public Works Director Juan Florensa, the dredge Atchafalaya is still being checked and serviced at Port Manatee and there is, as yet, no date certain when it will arrive

Longboat appears to have taken a metaphorical turn in its move to a new identity. Last Wednesday, the Town Commission and a packed chamber full of business owners and residents discussed the Vision Plan. Town staff, residents and business owners along with consultants have crafted a document they believe embodies what Longboat is, where it came from and what it ought do to deal with the challenges at its doorstep.

IPOC President Bob White announced this week that Longboat Key Towers Association has decided to continue as a member of Islandside Property Owners Coalition LLC, reversing a previous decision to withdraw. They have resigned only their position as a managing member, reported White.
