Longboat Key Undergrounding

The utilities undergrounding project continues to be full steam ahead. The Town of Longboat Key’s work is currently focusing on GMD both on the South and North ends of the Key. The conduit design for the fiber is being finalized and work will soon be shifting to the neighborhoods starting with Phase 1 in the South end of the Key. Project status is available on the Town’s website and the next public update is scheduled for the November 12, 2019 Regular Meeting.

Outdoor Venue/Town Center at LBK

The Town has been working with the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce to schedule our first event in the Town Center. A holiday season tree lighting ceremony is being scheduled for Saturday, November 30th starting at 5:30pm. First opportunity to show off the Town’s property and start to imagine how it may develop over time. The Chamber is also finalizing plans for a monthly Saturday concert series starting in January on the Town’s open venue site. Look for more info over the next couple of weeks.

Broadway Street speed limit

A reminder that the speed limit on Broadway has been reduced to 20 mph and additional parking restrictions have been approved in the Village. Please respect the neighborhood as you visit the two restaurants at the end of the street.

Pickleball at Bayfront on Longboat Key expansion

The Town is moving forward with plans to add two permanent pickleball courts in Bayfront Park. They will be just to the East of the existing court using a portion of the basketball court. The basketball court will be expanded 15’ to maintain a half court of play. The Tennis and multi-use court remain as is.
