Longboat Key properties star on HGTV

Three Longboat Key properties were featured on a July 16 episode of HGTV’s House Hunters, and the hit show offered millions of viewers a glimpse of Longboat Key life.

For those unfamiliar, the show’s format consists of presenting three properties to a couple who tour the properties during the show and inevitably make a decision before the closing credits. This is the first time Longboat Key has been featured on House Hunters.

The Longboat Key episode featured buyers Henrik and Britta Rasmussan. The Rasmussans were fans of HGTV and approached the show and the show agreed to follow the couple in their quest to find a vacation and retirement home. The couple hails from Annapolis, MD and were looking for waterfront, a boat dock, an office and as Henrik said, “a beautiful Mediterranean home.”

The Rasmussans looked at two single-family homes, one at 640 Rountree Drive and the other at 3626 Fair Oaks Place in Queens Harbour, which is within Bay Isles and pictured above.  The third property was a Positano Condominium at 4985 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

Longboat Key realtor Bruce Myer is the listing agent for 3626 Fair Oaks Place. Myer said it was exciting to be featured in the show and he said that his listing ticked all the boxes for Henrik who loved the open Bay view and was extremely impressed by the upstairs office and the idea of walking from his office to his boat dock, which was a plan he seemed to visibly relish in the episode. But in the episode, Britta was adamant about being able to walk directly on the beach every morning and in the end, they chose the Positano Condominium.

The first home the couple toured at 640 Rountree Drive was exciting in that it offered 200 feet of Sarasota Bayfront. It was the largest property they viewed between ½ and one acre of land and 5,140 square feet under air. It was also the most expensive listing at $3.795 million. The property listed by Myer in Queens Harbour has been completely remodeled and the emphasis throughout the home is on the expansive views of the Bayfront. This home is located within the gated security of Bay Isles and offers a deep-water dock, boasts 3,613 square feet under air, and is currently listed at $2.295 million. Myer said that one of the attractions of Bay Isles and this home in particular is that it has the Bayfront views and private dock, but full access to the Bay Isles Beach Club which is situated directly on the Gulf on 5 acres with a covered pavilion and an expansive private beach.

The condominium purchased at Positano has $3,203 square feet, and was listed at $3.2 million but the seller accepted $2.85 million from the Rasmussans.
