Café Don Giovanni, the end of an era
That quaint little restaurant at 5610 Gulf of Mexico Drive with the “12 star food” where generations enjoyed dinner together has closed it’s doors after 15 years of dedication and outstanding service to the Longboat Key community.
Many residents and visitors will feel the emptiness that now fills the space where the smell of garlic bread once aroused the palates of hungry diners. And the taste of handcrafted Italian meals meticulously prepared and satisfying to so many appetites for over a decade will remain only in the memory of the taste buds.
With a few dedicated wait staff, Chef Emilio D’Allesandro and Sous Chef Victoria Silvsain provided excellent menu selections and nightly specials, working diligently six days a week, with the help of Juanito, a dedicated and hard-working food prep and kitchen porter.
“It is difficult for the average customer to imagine the time consuming work necessary to create the delicious entrees and unique ambiance Café Don Giovanni was well-known for.”
The international couple are happily pursuing the dreams that the steam from the kitchen prevented them from realizing.
We are grateful to have enjoyed their delicious entrees, unique atmosphere, et al, and wish them success and joy in their new adventures. Their skill and talent in the kitchen and their friendly conversations and lively character will be sorely missed by the Longboat Key community. — Ciao Bella
