Chef Angel Torres has arrived at Amore Restaurant on Longboat Key and is eager to share his vast culinary knowledge and 30 plus years of experience as the  new executive chef at Amore. He is looking forward to providing the best fresh food in this beautiful restaurant, which also has a luscious tropical outdoor garden for diners to enjoy.

Torres’ early career began in restaurants in New York City, most notably on the West side at Le Cite in the Essex House Hotel where he worked for six years. Relocating to Florida, Torres was the sous chef for almost a decade, working with executive chef Jamil Pineda, at Longboat Key’s Monkey Room Restaurant at the Colony.

“If you want to become a great chef, you have to work with great chefs, and that’s exactly what I did,” remarked Torres. Most recently (before coming to Amore), he had been busy creating a gourmet menu for the Sarasota Bay Club. Now, as executive chef, Torres will skillfully oversee a staff of five in Amore’s kitchen.

One of Chef Torres’ signature dishes featured on the menu at Amore, is pan seared Ahi tuna in a coriander spice rub served with a sangria demi sauce. Chef describes the food he prepares as  “Italian Fusion comfort food,” he combines seasonings and spices from his Puerto Rico roots to a number of his creations.

Delicious Lobster will continue to be a feature item on Tuesdays and Fridays for $29.95 and a soup special will be offered daily. Happy Hour Bar Bites for $6 are available from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. There is also an early dinner menu from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Prices for appetizers range from $9 – $11, pastas from $18 – $22 (the ravioli is homemade), entrees  range from $27 – $30.
