Tube Dude moving downtown
Tube Dude is leaving St. Armands Circle for a property on Main Street just east of South Osprey Avenue. Scott Gerber, the president of Sarasota’s tubular smiling sculpture company, has plans to place an 18-foot tubular giraffe in the yard at 1818 Main Street. He’s modifying the interior, which is the previous home of Victoria Blooms florist, with a tube butler, a Tube Dude utensil holder and a Tube Dude bed.
It’s been six years since the first Tube Dude was made, and since then more than 4,000 works have been shipped to 42 countries. Most of those sales start at Gerber’s storefront, and he expects the move to downtown will give him a additional exposure.
