Time for a delicious summer cocktail

Contributing Columnist

One of the benefits of growing fresh herbs, such as Basil, on my balcony in the Tower Garden (a small aeroponic and soilless, watering system) is that I always have fresh ingredients to cook with. The Basil had grown so rapidly recently, we had to throw a fun cocktail party and share it. I invited my friends to Classico, a local restaurant downtown, and they were able to savor the best tasting, pesticide free, non-GMO Basil they have ever tried. I will be hosting these fun and healthy events monthly going forward at local restaurants, and I hope everyone can soon try these delicious and fun martinis. Here is a recipe to try at home in the meantime. Enjoy!

Ingredients (Serves 2):

• 4 oz Vodka

• 1 oz St. Germain

• 1 oz Vermouth

• ¼ Large Cucumber (peeled, seeded, diced)

• 6 Large Basil Leaves (chopped medium-fine)

• ¼ Lime Juice

• Muddle cucumber, lime juice, and basil together

in a cocktail shaker.

• Add vodka, St. Germain, and vermouth.

• Fill with ice and shake well.

• Strain into a martini glass.

Enjoy! Preferably on the beach or your balcony!
