Our enchanted island will be humming with expectation as, once again, the ATP Tennis World Tour will be held at the Longboat Key Club Tennis Gardens from Saturday, April 12th to Sunday, April 20th.  The Sarasota Open is a USTA Challenger Pro Circuit Event. The Tournament, 2014 edition, features World-Class Professional Players gathering here for the $100,000 competition.

According to Tournament Director and owner of Dryden Sports, Tony Driscoll, this 8th year of the Sarasota Open on Longboat Key is projected to be the best ever.  This tournament is considered the premiere Professional Tennis event in Southwest Florida, bringing some of the top players in the world.

John Isner, the American and World #9, as well as legendary coach Nick Bollettieri, will be available for autographs on Monday, April 14th from 4Pm.  They will then attend the lavish Players Party from 7 to 10PM. Tickets are still available for the party at $100 apiece. Tennis Hall of Fame inductee, Bollettieri,  will be available throughout the week.

The field of athletes this year includes 22 Main Draw players, 9 of them Americans, including Alex Kuznetsov, who will be back to defend his winner’s title.  He received a main draw into last year’s French Open after winning the Sarasota Open.  Donald Young has career wins over Australian Open winner Stan Wawrinka and Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray; Ryan Harrison is a former Bradenton resident who is rising in the ranks; Steve Johnson is a former NCAA Champion from USC; veteran Robbi Ginepri is expected; Other favorites include Americans Bradley Klahn, Jack Sock and Michael Russell.  The field is brimming with talented players from all over the world.

Ten Wild Card entries will be selected on April 12th and 13th by the Sarasota Open and the USTA.   The winners will gain entry into the main draw.

A women’s tournament of young, rising stars will run concurrent to the men’s, and is still forming.

For your total enjoyment at the games, Musical Bands will play before each night session from April 14th to April 18th, 5:30 to 6:30 PM.

Volunteer ball persons are needed; be part of the action and the tournament.  If interested, please contact ciara@tdaglobal.com.
