Afghan Women: Beyond the Veil

On Thursday, Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Longboater Toni Maloney, co-founder and CEO of the non-profit organization, Business Council for Peace, will  present Afghan Women: Beyond the Veil.  Price for Members $18 and Non-Members $23.

 

Super Bowl Foreplay! 

If you love someone who loves football, but are clueless about it, this two-session course taught by Harold Bubil, from the Herald-Tribune, is for you! You will learn the basics so you can enjoy the game as much as the snacks! When should you “go for it?” What’s the “red zone?” Discover why your Significant Fan is always yelling at the TV. Wednesdays from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., January 22 and 29. Price for Members $40, Non-Members $45.

 

Conductors and Conducting

How do conductors lead an orchestra? Why does the same piece sound different under the direction of different conductors? These and other questions about the art of conducting will be discussed by Edward Alley and June LeBell. Ed was music director of the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra in Europe, principal conductor of the Boris Goldovsky Opera, and manager of the New York Philharmonic. June LeBell is a former singer, award-winning broadcaster and announcer for the classical radio station WQXR in NYC. Conductors and Conducting will take place on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Price for Members $18 and Non-Members $23.
