Town Commission race heats up; five take out papers

Three potential Longboat Key Commission candidates and two sitting commissioners have picked up election papers, indicating an interest in running in the March 2014 election. There are four seats up for election in March.

District 1 Commissioner Lynn Larson took out papers recently, as did At-Large Commissioner Terry Gans. Gans can run for re-election for his At-Large seat, or in District 3 where he resides. Also taking out papers this week is Longboat Village resident and business owner Robbie Ball, as well as attorney/contractor and resident James Armstrong. Ball can run in District 5 or At-Large and Armstrong plans to run At-Large. Bay Isles resident Ray Rajewski has also taken out papers and said he plans to run in District 3, where current Commissioner David Brenner holds the seat, although he has stated he will not run for re-election in the March 2014 election.
