Longboat Key Fire Rescue announces Water Safety Training

Over the next few weeks beachgoers will be seeing LBKFR personnel training in Gulf waters.  This training is in preparation for the implementation of a new water rescue vehicle the department received through WCIND funding.  A Jet Ski was purchased by the department to assist with water rescue operations on both the Bay and Gulf waters.  LBKFR personnel will go through a water assessment review, learn how to launch the Jet Ski from the beach and how to operate the Jet Ski having a patient and another rescue on the Jet Ski.

This training and implementation of this new rescue operation is the department commitment to water rescue/safety.  The department will be implementing a water condition flag program in the next week.
