Longboat officers promoted to sergeant

Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming appointed four officers to sergeant positions this week. Officers Chris Skinner, Robert Bourque, John Thomas, and Douglas Coffman have been promoted to patrol sergeants. The promotions are part of a new reorganization structure Chief Cumming implemented last month. Cumming has decreased the number of captain positions from five to two, and has eliminated the master patrol officer positions. The new organization places more officers on the street, does not add to the budget costs and allows officers more opportunity for career advancement.
