Longboat Key Art Center’s call to artists

The Longboat Key Center for the arts is holding a community juried exhibition March 8 through 29 and is sending an invitation to all local artists to submit their work. Share your artistic talent with the local community. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday March 9 from 4:30 p.m. through 7 p.m.

Entries per person are limited to 4 works. There is an entry fee per person of $17.50 for members and $25.00 for non-members. Cash prizes will be awarded: Northern Trust Excellence Award $500 for 2D/3D artwork; Northern Trust Excellence Award $500 photography; LBKCA Achievement Award $300 for 2D/3D artwork; LBKCA Achievement Award $300 photography; Ringling College of Art + Design Merit Award 2D/3D artwork; Ringling College of Art + Design Merit Award $150 photography.

  1. Do we have an arts center anymore? I have audio recordings from the old folk performers, recorded in the late 50’s or early 60’s there. I was three or so. My father made them. Sounds like it was a wonderful place. Figures it would be demolished for someone’s home aspirations. Thanks Ringling.
