Longboat honors Lenobels at Appreciation Day event

Former Mayor and long-time Longboater Hal Lenobel was presented an oil portrait as well as a commemorative plaque. Hal’s son, Jeffrey, holds the painting as current Mayor Jim Brown, who officiated the event, looks on.

Friends and family turned out last Sunday, Oct. 21, for a Golf Tournament and Appreciation Day held to honor Hal and Hazel Lenobel at the Longboat Key Club & Resort. Mayor Jim Brown spoke at the event, eloquently expressing his support and admiration for Hal and Hazel and all they’ve done in the town’s service. Mayor Brown presented Hal with a plaque on behalf of the town for recognition of his terms as commissioner and mayor, as well as a portrait of Lenobel, which will hang in Town Hall.

Dr. Lenobel and his late wife Hazel have been stalwart supporters of the Town and its way of life.  Hal served on the Longboat Key Town Commission from 1997 to 2005, and 2008 to 2012, and as Mayor for three terms. His service to the island allowed him to represent all residents and the broad interests of the entire community.
