Try your sword at the medieval fair auditions

The Sarasota Medieval Fair is holding auditions for the ninth season where novices and the curious are invited to try out their talents at improv and with a sword at the Sarasota Fair Grounds for the Irish theme, the Battle of Glen Mama.

The festival is looking for historians and fans alike to help recreate the uprising of the Leinstermen and their allies, the Vikings of Dublin, against their overlord Brian Boru, the King of Muenster. For the first time, the Sarasota Medieval Fair will be featuring an Irish theme and they’re hoping that fans, even without the dialect (that will be rehearsed later) will be encouraged to come out with the returning cast of nearly eighty.

The Sarasota Medieval Fair auditions will be Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11-12. Visit www.SarasotaMedievalFair.com under Casting Call, call 888-303-3247 or email Dean Bowden at ArtisticDirector@sarasotamedievalfair.com. The 9th Annual Sarasota Medieval Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Nov. 10-11 and 16-18 rain or shine.

Education through history is a major theme for the Sarasota Medieval Fair. Families and amateur actors of all ages are invited to come out and experience the thrill of what it is like to portray a different culture while entertaining their own community.
