Flags at Half Staff
In a memo dated July 23, Governor Rick Scott’s office issued all flags at local, state, and federal buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado. The flags were required by President Barrack Obama’s directive to remain at half-staff until last Wednesday, July 25.
Twelve people were killed and 58 were injured in the July 20, Aurora, Colorado shootings. Eleven of those injured were listed in critical condition shortly after the shooting, and as of July 26 five remain in critical condition.
The suspect, James Holmes, is being held without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder. Police reports state he opened fire at an Aurora theater during a midnight showing of the most recent Batman movie.
