Key Club Moorings lauded for clean stewardship

Longboat Key Club Moorings is proud to announce that it has been designated a Florida Clean Marina, for the 10th consecutive year. The Florida Clean Marina program is administered through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and recognizes the voluntary and proactive efforts of marina facilities and their commitment to environmental stewardship. Through the program, participating marinas receive assistance with implementing Best Management Practices, ongoing educational opportunities and access to a network of other Clean Marina designees. To achieve this accolade, a marina must implement a set of environmental measures that are designed to protect Florida’s waterways.  These measures address critical environmental issues such as sensitive habitat, waste management, storm water control, spill prevention and emergency preparedness.

“We are tremendously proud to once again be recognized as a Florida Clean Marina, for the 10th year in a row. Our members respect the fact that we place such a high priority on environmental stewardship and the majority of the boaters that lease slips from us place a high value on our participation in the program.  It really says something about who we are and where our priorities lie,” said Michael Welly, General Manager of Longboat Key Club & Resort.
