FEMA opens Manatee temporary Disaster Recovery Center

The Federal Emergency Management Agency opened a temporary Disaster Recovery Center at the Manatee County Convention Center to help those whose homes or businesses were impacted by Tropical Storm Debby. The center will be open every day of the week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Representatives from FEMA, the Small Business Administration, the American Red Cross and Manatee County Government Neighborhood Services and Community Services will be at the center to explain disaster assistance programs and help survivors apply for aid. The convention center is located at 1 Haben Blvd. in Palmetto.  If possible, before going to a disaster recovery center, people with storm or flooding losses should register with FEMA. There are three ways to apply: By calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov., or by tablet or smartphone using the FEMA app or m.fema.gov.
