Road repairs on Longboat Pass continue

Town of Longboat Key: SR 789 at Longboat Key Pass Bridge: Repair project – Improvements being made as part of this project include bridge repair, painting, and sidewalk reconstruction. On Sunday, February 12 through Friday morning, February 17, 2012 the contractor will conduct both daytime and nighttime activities, including sidewalk reconstruction and bridge repair. The sidewalk on the west side of the bridge is currently closed. Pedestrians are able to use the sidewalk on the east side of the bridge. Weather permitting, the west sidewalk is anticipated to be closed for 4 weeks. Nighttime activities will require temporary lane closures controlled by flaggers between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. During these times, motorists should expect possible delays not to last longer than 15 minutes in either direction. During construction, the width of the travel lanes on the bridge are temporarily reduced from 12 feet to 10 feet. Nighttime lane closures will not be permitted from Friday at 10 p.m. to Sunday at 6 a.m. The speed limit is reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph. Motorists are advised to obey the speed limit and exercise extreme caution for their own safety as well as the safety of the construction workers. Weather permitting, these activities are anticipated to last for several months. This project is anticipated for completion in the spring of 2012. The contractor is Quinn Construction, Inc.
