Road watch on Longboat Pass Bridge

The contractor installed this week barrier walls on SR 789 at the Longboat Key Pass Bridge reducing the width of the travel lanes on the bridge from 12 feet to 10 feet. Over-sized vehicles will not be allowed to travel across the bridge for several months. Flaggers will be present between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. to direct traffic. Motorists are advised to use caution and obey the speed limit, which is reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph.

The improvements under this contract consist of bridge repair, painting and sidewalk reconstruction. Construction is anticipated for completion in the spring of 2012.
