I was in town with a Road Scholar group learning about sea turtles. It was incredible to see these 3 tiny babies make their way into the shallow surf and swim out into that big dark sea with flippers smaller than my baby finger. Since they have a 1 in 1000 chance of making it to maturity my roomate and I went back to the hotel and lit a candle for each of them, named them and said a prayer. They had to swim 10 miles to a seaweed bar amist many predator after being in that sand hole for 3 days without food. Often predators get them on the way to the sea. We know these 3 made it to the sea. Some day they will come back to this very beach and lay their eggs. We must do all we can to protect these amazing creatures!
