Le Ciseaux rejuvenates with expansion

You have to love Angela Johnston.

While the media is obsessed with the oil spill and our region finds itself in the midst of our slow summer season, this St. Armands entrepreneur is making bold moves.

Johnston, owner of St. Armand’s Les Ciseaux Hair Salon and Spa, is excited to expand and make over her salon in a business market where many are “cutting corners.” Johnston purchased the spa two-and-a-half years ago with money earned as a Realtor.

“It was a great business deal for me. I knew the business and location, and it made sense. The former owner was retiring; he had owned the business for 20 years. I brought revitalization to a good business.”

Salon and Spa manager Stacy George credits their success to an experienced artistic team, trend setting services and a fun atmosphere. Johnston works to stay on top of training for her staff, a product line that she can stand behind and a motto that ‘every client should leave happy and in love with their hair.’

“We have been having a large request to do wedding hair. It has been so much fun for the staff and the wedding parties. Our expansion will allow wedding parties to have their own space. We provide them with hair, makeup, champagne and strawberries. I got the idea to start a St. Armands wedding alliance with other neighboring businesses. It makes sense, [our area] is becoming a wedding destination spot, with beaches, Five-Star hotels and perfect weather.”

Les Ciseaux will be taking over the area currently occupied by My Realty Company, founded by Sylvia Babineau.

Babineu’s business will be moving a few spaces over to the store space currently occupied by Rainbow FedEx. Bobby Eddington, owner of Rainbow FedEx, is looking for a first-floor location for his mailing and sundries business.

Les Ciseaux is on the second level of the northeast quadrant of St. Armands Circle, just above Cha-Cha Coconuts and the Columbia restaurant.
