The Town of Longboat Key is planning for a $5 million beach project that will restore the beach at the north end this summer.
Currently, the North Shore Beach Access is closed due to the severe loss of sand.

The en Provence Condominium Association is not happy with the effect the newly installed groins in front of the Islander Club is having on their beach. The groins, which are designed to retain sand and stem erosion in front of the Islander, are blamed for half of the beach being lost at en Provence.

Officer Quarmby made contact with an LBK resident who was photographing the swans at the golf course at Bay Isles Road. It appeared that the swan parents had rejected one of the seven baby swans. The adult swans were chasing it away and had pecked swan would not survive without intervention.
