The Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs has been held in Louisville, Kentucky, since 1875. This year marks the event’s 136th anniversary. Recent Longboat Key Commission contender and long-time Longboater Lee Pokoik said he is looking forward to watching the race at the Sarasota Yacht Club, where he says he will enjoy a mint julep and a first-rate seat.

Pokoik, a thoroughbred owner and racer, says his vantage point at the Yacht Club will be much better than contending the crowds and chaos of race day at Churchill Downs. Pokoik is looking forward to the main race of the day. He contends that the two best horses have the worst post position this year. Lookin’ At Lucky in post one and Sidney’s Candy at post 20 are both great racers with great jockeys according to Pokoik, but their respective post positions could be a real challenge for them.
